This polyimide-based composite material has extremely good mechanical properties, rated above all at high temperatures. Low thermal conductivity and is also flame-retardant. It is used as a construction material in the aerospace industry, and for thermal insulation plates in moulding tools, among other applications, where strict requirements to compression strength and thermal stability are key.
G-Etronax PI and EP11 sit close together on paper: PI's temperature index (190°C) is only marginally higher than EP11's (180°C), but they behave very differently as temperature rises: EP11's mechanical properties fall off with heat, while PI stays remarkably stable. PI is also flame-retardant, which EP11 is not.
Suitable for electrical insulation and other electrical applications.
Suitable for applications where the materials are exposed to mechanical impact.
The material remains functional and retains its properties even at high temperatures.
The easy-to-machine material makes for unlimited possibilities.
