This silicon-based composite material is used in mechanical, electrical and electronic constructions at elevated temperatures. SI (SI GC 21) retains good electrical properties at high temperatures. and is self-extinguishing. It is used as nozzle insulators in wire-welding guns where a shielding gas is used, and as insulation material in large induction furnaces for smelting metals among other things.
G-Etronax SI vs. PI SI (silicone) and PI are both used at elevated temperatures, but the gap between them is mechanical, not thermal: SI softens at high temperature and has markedly lower mechanical properties than PI.
A key advantage of SI is that it does not delaminate under prolonged heat exposure. It can hold up for a long time even under sustained high heat.
Suitable for electrical insulation and other electrical applications.
Suitable for applications where the materials are exposed to mechanical impact.
The material remains functional and retains its properties even at high temperatures.
Resistant material with long service life.
